August is off to a scorching start, and judging by the weather forecast, you might be spending a good portion of the month indoors. Thankfully, this really isn’t the worst thing ever, as you have some great streaming options thanks to Netflix Canada.

The biggest and most intriguing offering is of course, Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down. The musical drama explores the early rise of hip-hop in New York, and based on the production budget alone, it looks to be something quite intense.

If you’re looking for a movie night, you can catch up on some fan favourites like 22 Jump Street, the cult hit Snowpiercer, and the family flick The Peanuts Movie. If those weren't enough blockbusters this month, David O’Russell’s critically acclaimed crime story, American Hustle, will also land on your small screen.

Michael Moore’s political documentary, Where To Invade Next, will release on the 10th, while David Cross’ comedy special Making America Great Again will be added a week prior. Maybe heavy political satire isn't your thing. If you’re looking for some mindless fun, The Netflix original horror, Scream, will also continue its run this month.

Start planning some nights in.
