Actor Jason Mitchell is being investigated for assaulting a woman at a hotel in Boston early Monday. The Straight Outta Compton actor reportedly "body slammed" an 18-year-old woman at the Ritz Carlton, according to TMZ. Witnesses said the unidentified woman slapped Mitchell before he threw her to the ground by her hair and called her a "b*tch."

A report from the Source said the woman involved in the altercation with Mitchell had attempted to gain access to a private party at the hotel and was denied. She then reportedly became angry and struck the actor, who retaliated. Witnesses said they heard the woman screaming for help from the hallway.

Mitchell was not arrested but police reportedly spoke to him on site and are still looking into the incident. The Ritz has also reportedly banned the actor from returning. He has tweeted several times since the incident but has not directly commented on what occurred.

Mitchell is best known for playing rapper Easy-E in Straight Outta Compton, a biopic following the rise of Hip Hop group N.W.A. His role earned him a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award and an award for Best Supporting Actor from the African-American Film Critics Association. The AAFCA also named 'Straight Outta Compton' the best film of 2015. Despite wide critical acclaim, the film received no Oscar nominations and actors from it were not invited to the Academy Awards, further fueling the #OscarsSoWhite scandal that year, a campaign that targeted the lack of diversity at the awards show.

Representatives for Mitchell and the Ritz Carlton did not immediately return Complex's requests for comment.
