When Mariah Carey and Empire come together, how could the result be anything other than a must-see event? A fresh teaser for the blockbuster FOX series' third season was premiered by Entertainment Weekly Friday, giving fans a quick glimpse at the Complex cover star as a Jamal-collaborating singer named Kitty.

"You always got a trick up your sleeve," Kitty is heard saying in a very Mariah way in the one-minute teaser. Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Xzibit, and new recruit Kid Cudi also appear briefly in the clip with some subtle hints as to what sort of turmoil fans can expect this season.

The highly coveted Empire guest spot is the first of presumably many wins for Mariah heading into the final months of 2016, which will also see the premiere of the eight-part E! Entertainment docuseries Mariah's World. Discussing the series with Complex for our cover story earlier this year, Mariah appeared to shade other reality titans by setting her series apart from the pack:

But [Mariah's World] won't be, according to Carey, a put-it-all-out-there show in the style of the Kardashian clan—who are, coincidentally, filming something in a private dining room 15 yards away.

As we learned back in July, Kid Cudi will also be popping up in the new season of Empire as a rapper named Gram. According toEW, Gram is a rival to Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray) both "in the studio and in life." So, um, hell yeah to that.

Empire returns Sept. 21.
