TBS is putting in work on a new scripted series based on lyrics by the late Notorious B.I.G., the network announced Thursday. The show, Think B.I.G., is described by TBS as a scripted series following the "misadventures of an inner-city teen" as he desperately tries to attain a better future for his young daughter and infant son.
Think B.I.G.'s plot lines will loosely follow Biggie's classic lyrics, with a report from Deadlineconfirming the series will be a comedy. The series is a collaboration between TBS and Mass Appeal, who are also teaming up on the just-announced animated series Storyville.
"Storyville and Think B.I.G. speak to the types of projects we will cultivate with Mass Appeal moving forward," Brett Weitz, TBS's executive vice president of original programming, said Thursday. "Mass Appeal is a leader in developing unique stories with diverse voices. There's no better partner for us to connect with this vibrant, impassioned audience." No additional details regarding Think B.I.G. have been announced.
Portions of Notorious B.I.G.'s life story will also be explored in the forthcoming All Eyez on Me, the highly anticipated Tupac Shakur biopic directed by Benny Boom. Actor Jamal Woolard, who first portrayed Biggie in the 2009 film Notorious, will return to the role for the film that's expected to be released later this year.
The Game, who caught a private screening of the film last month, had nothing but praise for Boom's production. "I'm proud for the entire West Coast," he said in a video posted to producer LT Hutton's Instagram. "I'm proud for Demetrius Shipp [who] played Tupac. The Tupac movie is the real deal. Shit makes that Biggie movie look like a cartoon."
TBS did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
