When you think of Washington, D.C., you probably think of spots like the White House or the Lincoln Memorial or the Washington Monument. But obviously, our nation’s Capitol is home to a much deeper culture, with artisans and communities as vast and varied as they come.

Complex News and New Amsterdam Vodka recently decided to hit up Washington, D.C., as part of their new collaboration Run the Underground, which celebrates some of the best-kept secrets in some of America’s greatest cities. While there, they met up with a number of Washington’s unsung cultural figures, including fashion and art gallery curator Le’Greg Harrison, visual artist Crooks on Canvas, rapper and producer Oddisee, and Trillectro music festival founder Modi Oyewole.

To cap off the D.C. leg of the campaign, Run the Underground sponsored a party at the neighborhood bistro Marvin right in the heart of the city. There, guests got to sip on some carefully crafted (and complimentary) New Amsterdam cocktails, check out some video highlights from the Complex News team, and truly celebrate the immense culture that America’s Capitol has to offer. And while some pretty powerful people reside the District of Columbia, Run the Underground was happy to remind its citizens and tastemakers that, in the end, “it’s your city.”

You can check out some highlights from the Complex & New Amsterdam Vodka Run the Underground Washington, D.C., party in the video above.
