While the world anxiously awaited Game of Thrones season six to find out if heartthrob Kit Harington aka Jon Snow was truly dead, a random police officer already knew the answer.

(Spoilers ahead!)

On Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Friday night, the GoT star revealed he avoided a speeding ticket by telling a police officer his character’s fate in season six. "I was driving back from my parent's house, and I was driving too fast. I was being a bit naughty," he said. "I was going over the speed limit, and I feel the sirens go off behind me, this policeman comes up, pulls me over and I, a bit sheepishly, say ‘I’m really sorry, I wasn’t looking at the clock’ and he said:  ‘Do you realize how fast you were going? That’s a bookable offense.'" By Harington's account, the officer continued, "Look, there's two ways we can do this: You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you in, or you can tell me whether you live on the next series of Games of Thrones.'"

Harington laughed at the officer’s request thinking it was a joke, but the cop was not joking. "Whether I take you into the police station depends on what your answer is," the cop said.

With no choice, the television star gave in to the ultimatum. "I looked at him and said, 'I’m alive next season.'"

The officer, delighted, brilliantly responded with, "On your way, Lord Commander. Keep the speed down this far south of the wall.”

It turns out the police officer wasn’t the only one who knew about Snow’s fate. Though Harington was not allowed to tell anyone, including his fellow castmates, friends, and family, there were some people he couldn't help but tell. "I told mum and dad straight away — that’s mum and dad!" He also told his girlfriend, GoT alum, Rose Leslie.
