We're currently gearing up for Silicon Valley's third season, which will find our favorite tech nerds tackling startup culture once again. Two of the show's stars, T.J. Miller and Thomas Middleditch, will also star in the upcoming action comedy Search Party, the release of which has been long-delayed. Now there's some official footage to get us excited: the NSFW trailer for Search Party has been released, and it looks like we're in for a wild ride.
The movie was originally slated for release in 2014, but it was shelved by Universal until now, Screen Crush reports. In the film, Jason (Miller), Nardo (Middleditch), and Evan (Adam Pally) are three best friends whose friendship is threatened by Nardo's upcoming wedding. A series of disastrous events finds Nardo stranded naked and broke in the Mexican desert, which means Jason and Evan must venture to save him.
Search Party marks the directorial debut of Scot Armstrong, who is known for scripting classic R-rated comedies like Old School, Road Trip, and The Hangover: Part II, so we can imagine the upcoming film will be filled with the same kind of ridiculous debauchery and hilarious displays of bromance. Here's the full synopsis of the film:
Wedding bells threaten to break up three best friends’ long-running bromance, but they aren’t going down without a fight in Search Party, the directing debut of screenwriter Scot Armstrong (The Hangover Part II, Old School). Convinced that his buddy Nardo (Thomas Middleditch) is making the mistake of a lifetime by marrying Tracy (Shannon Woodward), Jason (T.J. Miller) puts a dramatic end to their wedding. When the furious bride decides to take her Baja honeymoon solo, Nardo follows her south of the border—where the lovesick groom is carjacked and left stranded, naked and penniless in a remote part of the Mexican desert. With no one else to call for help, Nardo sends out an SOS to Jason and their pal Evan (Adam Pally), an up-and-coming ad exec slated for an all-important business meeting the next morning. As Jason and a reluctant Evan rush to Nardo’s rescue, the trio embarks on a series of increasingly outrageous misadventures involving con artists, drug smugglers and even the Federales in this wild and wacky action comedy.
The film's other stars include Jason Mantzoukas, Kristen Ritter, Alison Brie, and JB Smoove. Search Party hits theaters on May 13.
