Actress Rosario Dawson was reportedly arrested during a Democracy Spring rally in Washington D.C. on Friday, TMZ reports. Dawson, who was protesting money's impact on the political process, was arrested with a group of "about a dozen" other people after crossing a police line and taking a seat in protest.

Dawson, who was eventually released, spoke with reporters about police's treatment of the ongoing protests and the importance of becoming actively involved with such movements. "So far we've gotten no communication back about what we're trying to do here," Dawson said, according to Sputnik News. "It's multiple different issues, from taking money out of politics to statehood for D.C. to reestablishing the VRA (Voting Rights Act)." According to Dawson, she and her fellow protesters are "putting ourselves on the line for what a lot of people across America, and across the planet, really want to be able to see happen."

"This is the beginning of the end for corruption and inequality in our democracy," Kai Newark, one of the leaders of the Democracy Spring movement, told Rolling Stone earlier this week. According to Newark, Democracy Spring "turns the tide" on political inequality. "Occupy is a part of the tradition that we're following, although that tradition goes back much further."

Sources tell TMZ that local authorities have arrested "about 100 people" as of Friday, mostly for "crowding." Though it's not exactly clear what Dawson was reportedly booked for, the Daredevil star was later seen leading a group in song:
