When you think about movies that follow the adventures of superheroes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is probably one of the first things that pops into your mind. After all, there will be no shortage of Marvel superhero movies in 2016 and in coming years. But did you ever consider that brave and sexy lifeguards could also be considered superheroes? Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, said that the upcoming Baywatch reboot is going to be "the Avengers of the beach."

In an Instagram post showing off his ripped bod, Johnson proudly declares, "We’re a bad ass Rated R squad and officially considered the ‘Avengers of the beach,'" in reference to the cast of Baywatch. He continued, "minus all the cool flying around, with a strong touch of family dysfunction."

If you're familiar with Johnson's Instagram—and you definitely should be—you know that he writes some pretty lengthy captions under his photos, which often document his intense workouts and behind the scenes moments of whatever project he's busy with. Before he equates the cast of Baywatch to superheroes, he writes, "We're puttin' together a truly one of kind, never seen before in the history of Hollywood campaign I think you guys'll really dig and have fun with."

Johnson stars alongside Zac Efron in the upcoming R-rated reboot directed by Seth Gordon. Series originals David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson also star in addition to Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Jon Bass

Not many people could get away with comparing lifeguards to superheroes, but Johnson's bulging quads speak for themselves. We'll see if the cast lives up to Johnson's claim when Baywatch hits theaters May 19, 2017.
