We live in a blessed era. The world is 4.543 billion years old, and yet somehow we managed to exist at the same time as not just Vin Diesel, but also Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. We get experience not only all seven (soon to be ten) Fast & Furious movies, but also The Rock’s wrestling career.

But their greatest impact might not in front of the camera, or in the ring. The two of them have grasped the raw power of both Facebook and Instagram to speak directly to their fans. While on screen Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs might be brothers, but online they are duelling titans of social media. The Rock is the populist one, sharing photos of his celeb bros and old photos of him wear a fanny pack; Vin Diesel on the other hand has a more surrealistic look, melding together captionless videos, bad design work and grainy stills from xXx to create a more expressive mood board of an Instagram. They both keep it one hundred on FB and the ‘gram, but when it comes down to it, which is the king? We have undertaken a very thorough investigation, and these are our findings…

Inspiration

Ok, this is where shit gets real. The Rock is a very inspiring guy. On IG, he regularly highlights regular people with extraordinary stories he meets, like this security guy who’s dad passed away from cancer. You’re clearly a very good guy, Mr Johnson. Vin Diesel goes down a very different route to inspire his fans. He doesn’t do it as much any more, but he used to post loads of inspirational quotes, sometimes said by Vin Diesel himself, badly photoshoped over pictures of Vin Diesel. And somehow, that weirdness is even more inspirational.

We’ve got it down as a tie. Sorry to sit on the fence, but they are both people who make the dirty world of social media that bit brighter. We don’t need any more Insta beefs, yo.
