The journey to Final Fantasy XV has been a long and arduous one, but we’re nearing the end game here as last night’s FFXV Uncovered event in LA not only revealed a new gameplay trailer but a solid release date, which happens to be September 30.

Furthermore, in the lead up to the highly anticipated release date developers Square Enix will also be releasing a slew of FFXV-based content. This will come in the form of a CGI feature movie, Kingsglavie: Final Fantasy XV and an free online anime series, Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. A FFXV demo—Platinum Demo - Final Fantasy XV—is also available to download and play from the Xbox One Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.

As you can see from the gameplay trailer above, the wait certainly looks worth it. The graphics look absolutely jaw dropping and the gameplay seems like a fusion of the traditional FF games and the Kingdom Hearts series. The trailer also features a cover of Ben E. King’s classic 'Stand By Me' by Florence + The Machine.

Many will agree that the last proper Final Fantasy game (XIII) left a bitter taste in fans mouths and it looked as if the iconic JRPG series was going downhill. But if this trailer is anything to go by, it appears that Square Enix has got their mojo back.
