A Queensland woman has put up an advertisement on Facebook to sell her $5000 engagement ring, in order to fund a trip to Italy – that is, after her fiancé cheated on her twice.

Caitlyn Wilmen, from Townsville, shared a photo of her 14ct diamond ring to a local ‘buy, swap and sell’ page on Monday, even supplying the 18-month-old ring’s Michael Hill certificate of authenticity.

“Willing to consider any offers, just like he did,” Wilmen quipped on the post. She also snidely added that the ring had “been Rhodium plated once" while her "fiancé cheated twice".

The post has since been shared over 30,000 times, causing Wilmen to cockily claim that she “broke the internet” on her Facebook page. She also mentions in the comments section of one of her posts that she allegedly woke up to a call from A Current Affair, who made contact with her dad.

While there have apparently been no serious offers to purchase the ring, it appears that Wilmen is enjoying the newfound fame briefly, but has her eyes on the prize. “I just want to sell the ring and put it all behind me once and for all,” she said.
