10 Things You Didn't Know About 'Crash Bandicoot'

Is Crash making a comeback?

Rumours are bubbling that Sony could be bringing back Crash Bandicoot. The platforming marsupial was one of the biggest hitters of the early days of the Playstation 1, but never really managed to sustain a franchise over subsequent console generations like Mario or Sonic has. Still, those OG PS1 games (made by future The Last of Us and Uncharted developers Naughty Dog) are some 3D platforming perfection, and a reboot if definitely, definitely due. Whether or not that happens, or we just end up having to jump on the Playstation Store to cop the originals, here are ten things you probably didn’t know about Crash.

When the game was been first developed, Universal Cartoon Studios created this traditionally animated intro in the style of a Saturday morning cartoon, complete with a cheesy theme song (The first games were co-published by Universal Interactive, hence Universal Cartoon Studios' involvement). It was possibly going to be used as an opening cinematic, or even as a pitch for a TV show, but it was abandoned when Sony wanted to push the 3D aspect of the game. The footage went unseen until 2015, when it was leaked online.

Crash’s girlfriend was deemed too sexy

It was one of the few Western games to find big success in Japan

There was a Crash manga
