Further proving the just-made-up theory that the average American household watches at least three Tom Hanks movies each week, the actor has officially been named America's favorite movie star. Hanks, who has nabbed this bragworthy honor on four previous occasions, bested both Johnny Depp and Denzel Washington in an extensive Harris Poll published by Variety.
Depp and Washington landed in second and third, respectively, with John Wayne and Harrison Ford rounding out the blockbuster list of America's relatively predictable favs. This year's poll, which asked more than 2,000 Americans to name their favorite star, also marks a victory for Sandra Bullock. Bullock, whose 2015 included Our Brand Is Crisis and Minions, returns to the top ten just one spot above Jennifer Lawrence:
1. Tom Hanks
2. Johnny Depp
3. Denzel Washington
4. John Wayne
5. Harrison Ford
6. Sandra Bullock
7. Jennifer Lawrence
8. Clint Eastwood
9. Brad Pitt
10. Julia Roberts
Meanwhile, the world still waits in desperation for a Turner & Hooch sequel:
Enjoy this victory, Hanx. We all know Harrison Ford is still bringing in the most bank.
