I think we were all a bit surprised when we found out a third xXx movie was actually happening. Vin Diesel abandoned the franchise after the first one, and the concept of an extreme sports James Bond is a bit, well, 2002. But now it turns out that not only is Diesel returning for xXx 3, the cast for also includes the likes of Jet Li, Tony Jaa and Conor McGregor, we’re pretty hyped about it tbh.

But what about Ice Cube? He replaced Diesel in the surprisingly-better-than-you’d-think sequel xXx: State of the Union in 2005. Surely he’s gotta be in it as well? We spoke Ice Cube today when he was in London on the press tour for Ride Along 2, and he said it isn’t happening. From the mouth of Cube:

xXx is cool, y’know, [but] I don’t think so. I don’t think I’m ready for that yet.

Maybe they’re saving him for the later instalments, Fast & Furious-style?

Another three-quel we want to Cube in is 23 Jump Street. He said he’s well up for that, but directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are involved with the Han Solo spin-off movie, which might be delaying it.

Man, y’know, I’ve been getting hints, [but] no real word. The directors of 21 & 22 Jump Street are doing a Star Wars movie, so they’re pretty occupied. I don’t know if that’s going to stop it happening, but I’m ready to go.

Our full interview with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart will be up tomorrow, but they also took over our Snapchat, which you can peep but following us at ComplexMag. Ride Along 2 is out in cinemas now.
