When the idea of drones were first introduced to the world they were used in the 'war against terror' in recent years companies such as Amazon have been toying with the idea of a drone delivery service but so far the only enterprise that took to the idea were drug dealers, even the porn industry is getting in on the act. But it looks like drones have finally found their true calling with the setup of the Drone Racing League (DRL).

More commonly known as FPV (First Person View) Racing amongst those in the drone racing scene, the hobby has a fairly niche following. That may change now however as a new company is hoping to take this underground scene to a mainstream audience with the newly formed DRL, they've already released their first batch of footage and we've got to say this is what drones were truly made for. Honestly we're still watching this video thinking drone racing was something we never knew we wanted, we love it and we want more. As you can see from the footage above, the drone racers have a real-time FPV of the course via a VR-headset whilst controlling the movements from a remote control, albeit at breakneck speed.

Time will tell whether this will catch on to the intended masses but we would do well to remember UFC and MMA started off with a cult underground following and now it's grown into one of the biggest franchises in the world.
