When Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon’s characters drove off a cliff at the end of Thelma & Louise, it’s pretty safe to assume they died. However, in real life scenario that played out almost like a video game, a California man swerved off a cliff but lived to tell the tale. The bonus? He caught the whole event on camera.

"I found myself accelerating through this nice long and dark pair of tunnels," he wrote in the description for the video uploaded to YouTube. "I had done this many times before in other tunnels." His story continued:

"At the exit, I could barely see because it was so bright, a person standing and holding something while motioning. Wondering what they were doing, I stared, and stared, reaching the top of 4th gear, all while trying to comprehend what they were trying to tell me. Then I figured it out. They were telling me to slow down and watch the curve ahead, but it was too late. When I think about it now, I don’t ever remember seeing the road ahead until I was nearly out of the tunnel. In my mind I had assumed that it just went straight.

Check out the amazing footage in the video above.
