This April London will be treated to it’s very first gaming festival which will run for ten days, starting from the 1st all the way to 10th. The announcement was made by London’s Mayor, Boris Johnson – in Minecraft form because why not, at this point in time we're not even sure he's a real person anymore.

April is already seen as a significant month for gamers with the video game BAFTA awards and independent gaming exhibition RGX Rezzed taking place in the capital already, but now these two events coincide nicely with what will be taking place at the first ever London Games Festival.

The festival, which has been funded with £1.2 million from the London Enterprise Project, aims to promote the gaming sector in the UK and transform London into the games capital of the world. As well as the video game BAFTAs and the Razzed exhibition London will be treated to a host of 15 more events in 10 venues. This will include a series of talks at the British Film Institute and a consumer exhibition at Somerset House.

While that’s all fun and exciting stuff what most of us really want to do is get our grubby little hands on some exclusive video games and we’re pretty confident that developers from both the indie circuit and major software companies will be on hand to provide us that satisfaction. Who knows maybe this will be an opportunity for the general public to get a first hand demonstration of the PlayStation VR.
