It seems not everyone is having a happy holiday. An NYPD sergeant, also known as the “Karate Cop” per the New York Daily News, was taken into custody after reportedly shooting the mother of his child in the neck.
49-year-old Jose Guererro was arrested at the couple’s apartment and charged with assault and reckless endangerment after a domestic dispute on Wednesday evening, the New York Postreports. The details surrounding said fight have not been disclosed but authorities were dispatched when a heavily bleeding woman walked into the emergency room at St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers. She was later released.
The sergeant, who holds a fifth-degree blackbelt according to the New York Daily News, was suspended without pay when word got out about his charges. It’s currently unknown whether or not the child was present and witnessed the altercation.
