Since Shane's poetic demise on The Walking Dead, Jon Bernthal has kept plenty busy with appearances in confirmed cinematic bangers like The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury, and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. In a casting choice of sheer genius, Bernthal will now appear as Frank Castle in the forthcoming second season of Netflix's Marvel series Daredevil. Castle, of course, is perhaps best known by his stage name The Punisher.

"The advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in," Doug Petrie tells EW, who just unveiled the first proper look at Bernthal's Punisher. "We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we . . . could." Petri and fellow Daredevil showrunner Marco Ramirez are apparently taking a page or two from the iconic Taxi Driver method of character development for this latest incarnation of the classic antihero.

"He has a different moral code,” Ramirez tells EW. "[Matt Murdock / Daredevil] is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who’s a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi’s Code. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water." Though further glimpses at Daredevil's second season will surely start trickling in ahead of its "sometime in 2016" debut, revisit the recent New York Comic Con trailer below to conjure all the hype you could possibly need:

Also, is dude saying "beg" or "bang" at the end of that frustratingly brief teaser? The internet can't really decide.
