Someone watched Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho too many times.

According to New York Daily News, an upstate New York woman is going to jail for keeping her 93-year-old mother's corpse so she could keep cashing in her Social Security and pension checks. Her daughter Mary Kersting will serve six months in jail, followed by five years of probation. She will also have to complete 500 hours of community service.

Hope Ruller and mother to 60-year-old woman Kersting, passed away in Oct. 2013 due to natural causes. Instead of Kersting making funeral arrangements, like the normal thing to do, she let her mother's corpse rot in the apartment directly below her own. Kersting received up to $14, 000 of Security Service and pension checks, but police didn't discover Ruller'  rotted body until Dec. 29, 14 months after her death.

Kersting pleaded guilty to grand larceny, improperly disposing of a body and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, according to Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira.
