Finally, some concrete news on Blade Runner 2. Until now, all we knew was that it was indeed happening, albeit probably without Ridley Scott behind the camera and Prisoners/Enemy/Sicario director Denis Villeneuve instead. Then there were whispers that Ryan Gosling was in the running to star alongside a returning Harrison Ford.

Well now Gosling himself has officially confirmed that, yes, he will be in the sequel and Villeneuve and famed cinematographer Roger Deakins lured him in with the script. Now that the cat's out of the bag maybe the ball will finally start rolling with actual forward momentum on this thing. After all, Gosling revealed that this will indeed be the next film he plans to shoot. So for now the release date on Blade Runner 2 seems to be sooner rather than later.
