Things got wild on a Sydney bus, as a clash between the driver and a passenger exploded into the street.

The incident began as the 413 from Campsie to the CBD moved through the inner-city suburb of Chippendale. A passenger attempted to board the bus, but missed out by the narrowest of margins. As the bus pulled out of the stop, the 33 year-old passenger ran in front of the bus, across to the driver’s window, and began to berate the driver.

When the driver, a 28 year-old man, relented and opened the door for the man, the passenger snapped a photo of the driver’s identification card.

The driver allegedly told the passenger to get off the bus, pushing and shoving the man before warning “get off or I will assault you.”

A scuffle ensued, which spilled out into the street. The passenger ended up sprawled out on the ground, before the driver got back on the bus and told the passengers to get off the bus.

Police and the Rail Tram and Bus Union are reviewing the footage filmed by a passenger.

“Of course the use of violence by anyone — driver or passenger — is never condoned by the union,” Union assistant secretary Dave Woollams said.
