The City of Light shines bright once again. 

Following two nights of the Eiffel Tower in complete darkness, a sign of France’s collective mourning after Friday’s horrific Paris attacks, the Eiffel Tower has been lit. The iconic tower, which had been announced as “closed indefinitely” after Friday, reopened Monday at 4:20 p.m. local time. That same evening, at 6 p.m., the Eiffel Tower was lit up in the French flag’s blue, white, and red, accompanied by Paris’ motto projected on it: “Fluctuat Nec Mergitur.” The motto translates to “tossed but not sunk,” now ringing truer than ever in these resilient times.  

An official account for the Eiffel Tower announced the tricolor light-up came at the request of Paris’ mayor Anne Hidalgo. The lights will remain the same from Nov.16 through Nov.18. Here's a look at the beautiful lights:
