With everyone capitalizing on “Netflix and Chill” it’s clear why Netflix is crushing its cable competitor. Just last week Netflix Chairman and CEO Reed Hastings predicted the Internets will be the only place for TV programming in 10 to 20 years and if these numbers keep holding up he’ll be right. Data comparing Netflix subscribers versus Cable subscribers over the same time period shows a huge 73 percent increase in Netflix subscribers, in comparison to a steady decrease in TV subscriptions. More like Netflix and no chill, amirite?

The line graph charts Cable and Netflix subscriptions over 12 quarters, starting in 2012’s second quarter with them having 52.07 million and 23.94 million respectively. Who knew three years ago Netflix didn’t even have half the subscribers Cable did? Now in 2015’s first quarter Cable reportedly had 49.22 million subscribers while Netflix had 41.4 million subscribers. In the last quarter alone Netflix reportedly added 3.3 subscribers to its service, so catching up and passing Cable should come easy.
