A Christian conservative recently compared casual sex to rape, which, no. Just no. However, what one Christian writer, spewing drivel on the Biblical Gender Roles blog under the name Larry Solomon, is advocating for, is rape. In the post—essentially a guide to marital rape, which Solomon has said is a myth—Solomon wrote men “should not tolerate refusal” if their wives are unwilling to have sex. Instead, he advises men to look away from the faces of their “begrudging” wives who give in to sex. He goes so far as to compare the women to Medusa, the Greek monster who turned men to stone if they looked at her.
Solomon, who thinks a wife’s body belongs to her husband, says wives should just “fake it until she makes it” if she doesn’t like having sex with her husband because at the end of the day, it’s good for her! So you know, like eating vegetables. “You also need to realize that whether your wife knows it or not she needs to have sex too. If you don’t have sex with your wife at regular intervals, even sometimes when she is not in the mood but consents anyway, you will open yourself to temptation,” writes Solomon.
He criticizes wives who are “grudgingly” participating in sex, calling the women “sinful.” “But sin is ugly,” Solomon writes. “Your beautiful bride’s face becomes ugly during this sinful time that she is grudgingly giving you sex as she grimaces wanting you to ‘just hurry up and get it over with’.”
While your blushing bore of a wife is grimacing, you (men) should ogle her body and not look at her face. Solomon advises, “Focus on the visual pleasure you receive from looking at her body and physical pleasure you receive from being inside your wife. You want to connect with her physically AND emotionally during sex. But your wife is the one refusing to connect with you emotionally, so you have to concentrate 100% on the physical side.”
Pro-tip: Do not take any of Solomon’s disgusting, atrocious “advice.”
