By the law of Hollywood Thirst Executives, Straight Outta Compton is far too big a success to not be sequelized. Given the way this industry reacts to a hit movie, the West Coast rap scene may even get the full-on Marvel universe, interlocking movie franchise treatment. But damn, this is fast even by Hollywood standards. Not only is a Compton sequel moving full steam ahead, but the cast has apparently already been set and started filming. Death Row records veteran Daz Dillinger Instagrammed the group over the weekend in an LA studio during a reenactment of Tupac recording "Ambitionz Az a Ridah" and "I Ain't Mad at Cha" within a 24-hour period. The cast for the sequel, to be titled DPG 4 Life, is as follows:

  • Azad Arnaud as Daz Dillinger
  • Reggie Noble as Suge Knight
  • Melvin Jackson Jr. as Kurupt
  • DaDa as Tupac
  • Curtis Young (Dr. Dre's son) as Dr. Dre

Given the cast changes for both Dre, Suge, and Pac, it would appear that this is less an official sequel than just a capitalization on the re-energized interest in the West Coast rap story. (Lady of Rage is also in the pic but it's unclear if she was just there or will be in the film as well.) It's also worth noting that there has been zero confirmation about this sequel on behalf of any studios. So yeah, expect much more news on this film soon.
