Since their service together at Ground Zero on 9/11, Texas Task Force 1 member Denise Corliss and golden retriever Bretagne have remained inseparable friends.  Bretagne is now the last known 9/11rescue dog to have served at Ground Zero, making her recent Sweet 16 party a very big deal indeed.

As part of their ongoing "Dog's Best Day" series, the professional cute Instagrammers over at BarkBox decided to step in and make Bretagne's special day one she would never forget. Bretagne's "Best Day" quickly became an enviable marathon of fun in New York City, including a nice stint in a luxury hotel suite and a seemingly delicious birthday cake. "It was really surprising and very touching to see how many people were involved and excited about her coming back to New York," Corliss tells TODAY. "Of course, it's not just about Bretagne. It's about the love and support that New York showed for those who responded to 9/11. She's kind of a symbol of that."

"There are so many reasons Bretagne's story is special," says BarkPost (the publishing platform of BarkBox) creative producer Laura Hastle, "but this one really hit home for BarkPost since we are based in New York. To be able to have the chance to thank one of the dogs who helped our city when we needed it most was an unforgettable experience."

Thank you for your service, Bretagne!
