When James Bond series author Anthony Horowitz called Idris Elba "too street" for the role of 007 in an interview with the Daily Mail, Twitter erupted into a justifiably angry mob of Elba defenders absolutely disgusted by the potentially racial undertones of such a suggestion. Horowitz quickly issued a rather predictable apology, adding that he was "mortified" to have caused such widespread offense.

Horowitz before Twitter:

"For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah."

Horowitz after Twitter:

I'm really sorry my comments about Idris Elba have caused offence [full statement attached] pic.twitter.com/UD6ouA45Uv

Though a much more direct response would have been widely understood (if not encouraged), Elba chose instead to simply spread the love:

Total Bond move, right?
