The second Republican debate is tonight and IRL meme Donald Trump might be bringing his usual buffoonery down a notch. This just might be the work of witches.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network on Wednesday Trump told David Brody that he knew he could “tone it down a little” when he’s pressed, meaning all of the time, whether it’s talking about his cockamamie immigration plans, threatening to fight Black Lives Matter activists, or his sexist takedown of Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.

Trump said,

"I've had a great temperament. You couldn't build a great business like I've built if you didn't have good temperament but I think maybe I can sometimes tone it down.”

Though he conveniently left out the part where his “great business” required him to file for bankruptcy, but we digress.

He added,

“When somebody hits, you can hit a little less hard. At the same time that may be the kind of thing the country needs because we have to hit back hard to fight hard because we're not going to have a country."

Trump even bragged saying he’s successfully dealt with “tough hombres” ("hombres" being Spanish for “men”) and “tough people,” but he’s aware he might've not been so “nice” while doing so. He just wants to “Make America Great Again” after all.

You can watch the debate with the top 11 candidates tonight at 8 p.m. ET on CNN.
