If you live in LA you have to head straight out of Compton to see Straight Outta Compton. The N.W.A. biopic is currently putting on for its era, its genre, and its city, but Compton IRL is currently so undervalued that it doesn't actually even have a movie theater to host its namesake in. CBS Los Angeles spoke to USC sociology professor Manuel Pastor, who said: "It's a low income area, it's been heavily dis-invested in. When you live in a community that doesn't have that kind of retail, it's a sign that the community is devalued and people within the community feel devalued."

Thankfully, much in the same way Compton's success has studios finally waking up to the desire to see more films of similar content and demographic, Compton the city is in talks for an entertainment district, which would include a 16-screen multiplex. Mabye Dr. Dre's next charity-minded move should go toward speeding that up.
