London Is Now Officially the Most Congested City in Europe

The average London driver spends 96 hours a year stuck in traffic.

Londoners collectively dodged a bullet this week when it was announced that the planned Tube strikes were cancelled, meaning that they wouldn’t be stuck in another traffic nightmare.

Actually though, Londoners suffer all the time. London has now officially been named the most congested city in Europe, according to transport information company Inrix. The average London driver spends 96 hours a year stuck in traffic—that’s almost a day longer that the second busiest city Brussels.

All five of the UK’s most congested roads are also in the capital.
