Disney Might Have Plans for a 'Star Wars' Theme Park

Pod-race simulators, anyone?

It's just a rumor right now, but Disney's recent land purchases have Star Wars fans hoping for their very own theme park. In the past two years, Disney has purchased three new parcels of land near its park in Anaheim, Calif., and the company recently filed a permit with the city to start using the new space.

Disney spokespeople say the space will be used for "warehouses, parking, and office space," but they also mention "additional cast members." Altogether, new space, new parking, new offices, new hires probably means new rides and attractions in the near future. Right? Right.

What's more, Anaheim just approved a tax break for Disney, provided the company spends at least $1 billion on expanding theme park and rebuilding surrounding streets by 2024. The expansion could mean that pod-race simulators, lightsaber battles, and a meet-and-greet with Han, Luke, and Leia are just a few years away.
