As messed up as 'Merica might be sometimes, seeing that people in China could do real jail time for sharing porn featuring consenting adults will make you thankful for the freedoms we have .

China, which has had an outright ban on all Internet porn since 2002, is now cracking down on the place where people there have been turning to watch homemade videos — social media.

The Office Against Pornography and Illegal Publications said it is demanding that authorities take immediate action to punish those who upload, host and spread the content, according to the New York Post.

This effort to scrub social media of all porn (especially Weibo aka China's version of Twitter) comes in the wake of a homemade sex video shot in a Uniqlo dressing room in Beijing spreading online. The man and woman in that video were reportedly arrested

It has been a bad week for porn viewers in Asia. Just days ago, India decided to ban Internet porn and the government there started blocking thousands of websites.

Of course, China's penalties for porn aren't nearly as harsh as its penalties for drugs. A young Colombian model accused of hiding drugs in her laptop there could actually face the death penalty if she's found guilty.
