Once you've gone to the moon, then what? Well, apparently baseball is an option. After traversing the moon of less-than-great TV networks alongside Kristen Wiig for their Lifetime special, Will Ferrell is now attempting to briefly conquer the world of baseball for the new HBO / Funny or Die docuspecial Ferrell Takes the Field.

During spring training earlier this year, Ferrell played 10 different positions for 10 different teams — each one injected with just the right amount of Ferrell. Of course, Ferrell Takes the Field is far from the Saturday Night Live titan's first foray into proverbial fields of dreams. Ferrell served as an executive producer (and guest star, more memorably) on Danny McBride's equally baseball-driven HBO vehicle Eastbound and Down.

So, who exactly was brave enough to briefly house the proven athletic talent of Will Ferrell? The Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres, andthe Los Angeles Dodgers gladly took the plunge. Ferrell Takes the Field premieres September 12 on HBO, HBO GO, HBO Now, et al.
