President Barack Obama Claps Back at Donald Trump, Says American People "Deserve Better"

During a news conference in Ethiopia, Obama took aim at the "sad" Republican culture currently promoting Donald Trump.

If by some small chance you haven't noticed, President Barack Obama has been on a relentless flexing streak during the fourth quarter of his history-packed presidency. Perhaps inspired by his self-proclaimed OutKastfandom, Obama has recently pressed the pedal of punk rock firmly to the floor — practically careening through one historical moment after another. As expected, with a laughably overcrowded Republican running field thirsty for press and the self-ingesting attention of its demographic, Obama has inspired a new wave of detractors — namely Donald "Troll Me Harder" Trump and his fellow loyal followers paid supporters.

During a news conference in Ethiopia on Monday, Obama made his disgust for the current Republican narrative internationally known. "The particular comments of Mr. Huckabee are, I think, part of just a general pattern that we've seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren't so sad," Obama says, speaking on Mike Huckabee's recent (unsurprisingly stupid) assertion that Obama was "marching Israelis to the door of the oven" by pushing for a nuclear deal with Iran. "When you get rhetoric like this," adds Obama, "maybe it gets attention and maybe this is just an effort to push Mr. Trump out of the headlines, but it's not the kind of leadership that is needed for America right now."

Specifically referencing Trump's decry of John McCain's war hero status, Obama reiterated the dangers of a culture which breeds such ignorance as a deeply damaging epidemic currently enveloping both the Republican party and the American political climate at large. Once again, Obama keenly placed the burden of Trump's current dominance on the shoulders of "a culture where those kinds of outrageous attacks have become far too commonplace and circulate nonstop through the internet and talk radio." Please step off, Trump. Please step off.
