The cult horror franchise The Evil Dead is coming back this Halloween. A sequel series, Ash vs. Evil Dead, will premiere on Starz on October 31, reports Deadline. The series takes places 30 years after the hell-raising events that transpired between five friends in a log cabin in the 1981 original, Evil Dead.
Bruce Campbell, who starred in the original and the 2013 reboot, will reprise his role as Ash in the new series. From Deadline:
Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its Evil grip.
Lucy Lawless will also appear in the series, playing Ruby, a mysterious character who wants to bring an end to the evil dead outbreaks as much as Ash does. At a panel at Comic-Con tonight, she called the show "scary and ... funny, and not at the same time."
