NYC-Hating Hacker Shuts Down 'New York Magazine' Just as Bombshell Bill Cosby Article Goes Live (Update)

The hacker, known only as ThreatKing, says he doesn't care about Bill Cosby but hates the "many stupid people" of New York.

Shortly after New York Magazine unveiled its earth-shattering Bill Cosby cover story entitled "Cosby: The Women," the stunning result of six months of interviews and careful planning, their entire site was swiftly taken offline by an anonymous hacker. Though your conspiracy theory muscle is likely flexing at the thought of a Cosby connection to this hack, such a connection is highly unlikely — as the act has already been claimed by an incessant New York City hater known only as ThreatKing:

ThreatKing supposedly gives little to no fucks about the increasingly troubling Cosby scandal, hacking instead for a much broader cause — namely his hatred of New York City and related entities. In an interview with The Daily Dot, ThreatKing says he "overwhelmed the site with a distributed denial of service attack" which overloaded its servers with traffic. On his hatred of NYC, ThreatKing maintains that he plans to continue instigating similar attacks on other New York media outlets. According to The Daily Dot, ThreatKing “[wants] to see people die" in New York:

ThreatKing said his hatred of New York City is based on a visit to the city gone wrong. “I went to new York 2 months ago. It was really bad,” ThreatKing said. “Someone pranked me. Everyone started laughing and shit. The first 10 hours being there. Some African-American tried to prank me with a fake hand gun.”

The NY Mag site is currently still down, with the publication temporarily resorting to other methods of sharing their Cosby testimonials:
