A man taken into custody by Chicago police earlier this week attempted to evade authorities by chewing through the seatbelt in a squad car.
NBC Chicago reports that 33-year-old Lashon Stuckey was arrested on Monday afternoon after police discovered heroin in his possession. According to NBC Chicago, police took action after believing they witnessed him complete a drug sale.
However, whie Stuckey sat in the back of a police cruiser, he decided to take a risk and bite through the seatbelt to free himself. Stuckey would later explain to police that the desire to make it to his son's birthday party is why he resorted to such drastic measures.
They were unmoved, and he was charged with criminal damage to property in addition to possession of a controlled substance.
