Avengers: Age of Ultron has already came and went without a cameo from Captain Marvel. That's because we still have no idea who will play Carol Danvers in the 2018 film. Or who will direct. OK! Magazine is throwing out a new casting rumor, and it ties in with the magazine's previous report that Angelina Jolie is being offered $20 million to direct.

In a not-yet-online story quoted by Yahoo!, OK! kind of says Charlize Theron is up for the starring role. Essentially, the argument is that Theron and Jolie are BFFs now that they've been introduced to each other by Brad Pitt. And if Captain Marvel can land fan-favorite Theron, it'll be able to get Jolie. Because the allure of $20 million is much weaker than the pull of BFF powers.

Is the reasoning for the rumor sound? Not really. In fact, the person who seems most likely to determine the film's future is director Ava DuVernay, who Marvel reportedly also looking at for Captain Marvel or Black Panther. But we have plenty of time for theories until Captain Marvel's Nov. 2, 2018 release date.
