Supergirl starring Melissa Benoist as the powerful Krptonian cousin of Superman is officially happening. CBS has ordered the series for the 2015-2016 TV season, according to TV Line

The green light comes at a time when nobody seems to want to say no to comic book characters on TV, from The Flash and Arrow on The CW to Gotham on Fox to Daredevil on Netflix. Even really out-there stuff like Preacher is coming to cable.

Greg Berlanti (the guy behind two of those series, Arrow and The Flash) is writing and producing along Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg.

The series follows Kara Zor-El, a 24-year-old from Krpton living on Earth who decides to stop hiding her superpowers and use them for good.

Also starring in the series: Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal), Mehcad Brooks (Desperate Housewives), Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jeremy Jordan (Smash).

Now the big question: Where on its schedule will CBS slot Supergirl? The answer will come next Wednesday morning ahead of the network’s annual upfront presentation in New York.
