A black family in New York was understandably shocked and disgusted to find a racist letter in their mailbox addressed to "African-American Family" that told them "You don't belong here!" and asked them to please leave the neighborhood "as soon as possible."

Ronica Copes posted the letter to Facebook. Since then it has been shared close to 4,000 times and has prompted local leaders, including the mayor of Lindenhurst, to visit the Copes family. The letter also prompted a visit from a hate crimes investigator, according to HuffPo

It's 2015, but apparently to some people on Long Island, it's still the 1950s
