Natalie Portman is taking on the ultimate strong female lead. Deadline reports that the Oscar-winning actress is set to play Supreme Court Justice (and total badass) Ruth Bader Ginsburg—who is better known as the Notorious RBG among her fans. The role is for the movie On The Basis of Sex, which Marielle Heller, the director of the Sundance favorite Diary of a Teenage Girl, is in talks to direct.
On the Basis of Sex follows Ginsburg's career and the "numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career," according to Deadline. We can only hope there's a moment in there about RBG's incredible and boozy appearance at the State of the Union. At 81, the second ever female justice still loves Jazzercise. Homegirl is crushing it on all fronts.
For Portman, this is another seriously on-brand project. Her latest movie, Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups , premiered in February, and her directorial debut, A Tale of Love and Darkness, premieres next week at the Official Selection at Cannes.
