Rumor has it that Asa Butterfield (seen above with Ethan Hawke in the upcoming film Ten Thousand Saints) is going to be Marvel/Sony's new Spider-Man when the character makes the swing over the Marvel cinematic universe for the first time.

Latino Review, which has a reputation for breaking this type of news, says it's already a done deal with Butterfield, who starred in Hugo and Ender's Game, however the studios haven't confirmed anything yet.

Spider-Man is reportedly going to show up first in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War before heading back to Sony Pictures for another solo Spider-Man reboot featuring the webslinger in high school. It's all part of that deal to share Spider-Man that the two studios inked earlier this year.

The Wrap reported in April that they were looking at a few different actors for Spider-Man, including Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar) and Liam James (The Way, Way Back).

As far as a director for the next solo Spider-Man movie, Deadline threw this list of names out there recently:  Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), Ted Melfi (St. Vincent), Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) and John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein who are directing the upcoming reboot of Vacation.
