D.C. Police Arrest Secret Service Officer for Trying to Break Into Ex-Girlfriend's Apartment

The woman called police and was apparently afraid for her life.

Police in D.C. arrested a Secret Service officer for trying to break into his ex-girlfriend's apartment early yesterday morning.

CNN reports that 29-year-old Arthur Baldwin was taken into custody just before 12:30 a.m. after returning to the scene. According to the Washington Post, the woman contacted the Metropolitan Police Department, claiming that she feared for her life. The Post adds that police arrived to find "dents, broken hinges and a boot print on the front door," as well as pair of shattered windows.

Baldwin, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, reportedly returned to the woman's Southeast D.C. apartment in uniform. Although he admitted to kicking the woman's door, the Post says he denied breaking the windows.

Baldwin was subsequently charged with first-degree attempted burglary and destruction of property.
