Ice Cube appeared on Conan last night to basically gloat about Friday. Ahead of a special 4/20 screening for the movie's 20th anniversary, Cube talked about the movie's cultural legacy, from "Bye, Felicia" to Zach Randolph getting his nickname (Z-Bo) from Deebo. There are so scenes from the movie that have invaded our language he didn't even have time to talk about "You got knocked the fuck out."
Originally, the line started off as "Farewell, Felicia," which is pleasing in an alliterative sense but not much else. Then it was changed to "Bye, Belicia," and finally "Bye, Felicia" when they remembered the character's name is Felicia.
