There's breaking records, and then there's this. Furious 7 didn't just break the box office record for best opening in April of all time, it ran over the old record, then backed over it, and ran it over again.

The latest in the Fast and Furious franchise earned $143.6 million domestically in its opening weekend, cracking the top 10 for best openings of all time, and destroying the previous April record set by Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million) set in 2014. Worldwide, it has already surpassed $300 million (and its estimated $190 million budget).

It also did way better than the previous best opening in the franchise, Fast & Furious 6, which opened to just over $97 million in 2013.

Making money like this, don't be surprised if this franchise goes on to an eighth film. We can't speak for the rest of the cast, but if the script is good, Ludacris is down.
