Marvel is Killing Deadpool

Somehow, Marvel found a way to kill Deadpool.

While Fox has plans to build a new (R-rated) life for Deadpool in the cinema, Marvel Comics has something a bit more macabre for the Deadpool comic book.

Word around the comic book space has been that in Deadpool #45 (which is the 250th overall issue of Deadpool), the Merc With a Mouth will be meeting his untimely demise. Usually, we'd be hit with a "YO, SPOILER, BRO!," this is being put right out on front street, from the title on the front of this massive special issue to the solicitation that Marvel sent out:

"That’s right—if you add together all the Deadpool series (creatively) issue 45 is the big 250th issue of Deadpool! What better way to celebrate than to end the series? In our over-sized main story, ULTIMATUM comes at Deadpool for revenge, so he has no choice but to take them on—ALL OF THEM. Then, in an Infinity Gauntlet crossover, what would Deadpool do if he got the six gems from Thanos? Plus: a slew of stories showcasing Deadpool’s closest friends and allies by special guest writers! Also, SPOILER: Deadpool dies at the end of the issue."

This brings up a number of interesting scenarios, namely HOW will Deadpool meet his demise? Similar to Wolverine (who was killed off last year), Deadpool has a serious healing factor, which means he can regenerate lost limbs, can recover super quickly from gunshots or stab wounds, and has even survived being decapitated. How you actually murder a person who can bounce back from just about anything is a mystery.

It'll also be interesting to see how ULTIMATUM comes into play. This terrorist organization made a stink in earlier Deadpool issues, and he took out their stolen helicarrier... and most of their troops. ULTIMATUM has been slowly plotting revenge, and it looks like all will come to a head in issue #45 / #250. It'll also be interesting to see how this will affect Shiklah, the seductive monster that Deadpool married last year.

Check out these pages (which includes the aforementioned Thanos cameo) from what's sure to be a huge, game-changing issue:
