Black Man, 19, Fatally Shot by Wisconsin Police

Police in Wisconsin shot and killed a 19-year-old man during a confrontation last night, authorities say. 

NBC News reports that an officer in Madison, Wisc. responded to a call about a man striking pedestrians and walking in traffic. After following the man to a residence, police say Tony Robinson attacked the officer, who drew his weapon and opened fire. According to NBC News, the officer performed CPR on Robinson, who later died at an area hospital. 

News of Robinson's killing resulted in protests: 


More than 100 protesters gathered at the scene of the shooting, according to witnesses and reports, with video showing the crowd chanting: Who can you trust? Not the police.

According to NBC News, protestors also staged a sit-in at Madison City Hall. Robinson, a Sun Prairie High School graduate, was preparing to attend Milwaukee Area Technical College. 

More details about the shooting are expected to be released today.
