Kim Kardashian, Barack Obama, and Jimmy Fallon Named Most Influential People on the Internet by "Time"

The list is a strange mix of world leaders and viral stars.

Yesterday Time Magazine recognized the true #influencers of the world with its "30 Most Influential People on the Internet" list (aka the only list that matters). The online juggernauts include President Barack Obama, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and, of course, Kim Kardashian

Here's Time's explanation:

She may tout millions of fans in real life, but Kardashian, 34, truly stands out on Instagram. There, she has perfected the art of the selfie: some with famous friends, some in luxurious bathrooms, and all to the delight of her 27 million followers. Long a performer in a reality TV show produced and edited by others, Kardashian also deftly uses Twitter to define and defend her own narrative (“Her eyes were closed and I was feeling my look! Can I live?!?” she sniped after being criticized for cropping her daughter out of a selfie), and of course to promote her various business ventures.

The rest of the list included other celebrities, prominent writers, viral stars, and bloggers. Readers have been asked to vote for the most influential person, and so far Matt Drudge and his stuck-in-the-'90s website is winning with 14 percent of the vote. Close behind him is the Food Babe Vani Hari with 13 percent and YouTube star Tyler Oakley with 10. Homegirl Kim K is near the middle of the pack with 3 percent of the vote.
